Scott Berman, MD
Dr. Berman received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and completed his residency in general surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. During his residency, he completed a fellowship in surgical research and clinical nutrition at the Hampton Roads VA Medical Center. Following residency in general surgery, he completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Arizona. Dr. Berman opened his Tucson vascular surgery practice in 1994 and founded Tucson Vascular Surgery in 1997. Throughout his career Dr. Berman has actively participated in research and continues to do so with a particular interest in vascular biology, medical database design, and bioengineering.
He has published a textbook on vascular access and more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters on many topics in vascular disease. He is a member of many regional and national professional societies and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, an honor bestowed upon those who “distinguish themselves in a sustained manner by making substantial contributions in two of three categories: research, service or education.” Dr. Berman has taken the lead in Tucson in the evolving field of vascular surgery by establishing the first endovascular aneurysm program in Tucson at St. Mary’s hospital in 1999 and was one of the first vascular specialists in Tucson to offer patients minimally invasive treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms, thoracic aneurysms, carotid disease, lower extremity PAD and venous disease. In 2010, Dr. Berman joined Carondelet Medical Group.
